Pixelbook is still in early access, but the direction is clear.
The first goal is simple: make it easier for developers to find useful pixel art assets, and make it easier for pixel artists to publish their work.
That means improving the marketplace step by step.
Marketplace improvements
The marketplace is the centre of Pixelbook.
As more assets are added, browsing needs to become faster and more useful. Developers should be able to find assets based on what they are building, not just scroll through everything manually.
We are looking at improvements like:
- Better categories
- More useful filters
- Search improvements
- Asset pack previews
- Creator pages
- Favourites
- Download history
- Better media previews
The aim is to make discovery feel simple even as the catalogue grows.
Creator onboarding
Creator support is one of the most important next steps.
Pixelbook needs a proper flow for artists to create accounts, upload assets, describe what is included, and publish packs.
The creator side will likely include:
- Creator profiles
- Asset upload tools
- Pack descriptions
- Preview images
- Pricing options
- Draft and publish states
- Stripe Connect payouts
- Basic analytics later
We want creators to feel like Pixelbook is built for them, not bolted on afterwards.
Purchasing and downloads
Right now, early assets are focused around free downloads and discovery.
The next stage is supporting paid packs properly.
That means the buyer experience needs to be smooth and trustworthy.
Important features include:
- Secure checkout
- Clear pricing
- Download access
- Purchase history
- Licence visibility
- Account-based downloads
- Receipts and confirmations
This needs to feel boring in the best possible way: simple, clear, and reliable.
Better asset pages
Asset pages need to do more than show a title and image.
A good asset page should explain exactly what is included and why it is useful.
We want asset pages to support:
- Multiple preview images
- Video or animation previews
- File details
- Pack contents
- Tags
- Creator information
- Related assets
- Clear calls to action
This is especially important for animated sprites and larger packs.
Built with early users
Pixelbook will be shaped by the people who use it early.
If you are a developer, tell us what assets you need.
If you are an artist, tell us what would make publishing easier.
You can start by browsing the marketplace or registering interest as a creator through the artists page.
The roadmap is only useful if it solves real problems.
